Hosting and server logs

When you request a page, the server processes the technical information required to deliver it securely and diagnose failures.

• IP address and request time
• Requested path, referrer, and response status
• Browser and operating-system information sent with the request

This processing is based on the legitimate interest in secure and reliable operation under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Access logs are generally deleted after seven days unless a security incident requires longer retention.

Direct contact

If you contact me by email or through a linked platform, the information you provide is processed to answer your request and retained only as long as the conversation or legal obligations require.

Cookies and measurement

This website uses a self-hosted Umami installation for limited audience measurement. Umami sets no analytics cookies and does not track visitors across websites. The application may use technically necessary security or preference cookies, which are not used to build a behavioural profile.

For each page view, Umami records the requested path, page title, referrer domain, time, browser, operating system, device class, screen size, language, and approximate country. Search parameters and URL fragments are excluded. The IP address is used transiently to determine the country and create a changing anonymous session hash, but is not stored. Session replay, heatmaps, advertising features, custom user identifiers, and performance tracking are disabled. Do Not Track is respected. All analytics data stays on the self-hosted server in Germany and is deleted after 13 months. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in understanding aggregate readership and improving this publication under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

External links and media previews

Links lead to services such as LinkedIn, YouTube, and conference websites. A remote video thumbnail may be requested from YouTube when a page is loaded. Following a link makes the destination provider responsible for its own processing.
